Home Study Catechesis

Home Catechesis is a program for families with special circumstances which prohibit a child’s participation in the regular programs.
Parents are provided with materials to work with their child at home.
They meet at regular intervals with the Director of Religious Education, who provides support and direction.

End of the Year Celebration and Ice Cream Social on Tuesday, April 27

The purpose for the Home Catechesis review sessions/meetings is to check up on the progress of the children and to enhance the communal aspect of catechesis which gets diminished when it is done 1 on 1 between parent and child.  Parents will be mailed a Unit Quiz for their child to complete prior to each review session.

Each session will consist of the following:
1.) collection of Unit Quizes
2.) family Sharing of highlights/learning/growth /progress as a result of their Unit work
3.) a group project/activity based on some aspect of the Unit or the Liturgical Year
And finally, but most importantly...
4.) we will take time to pray as a community.

*This starting time affords the family the possibility of attending 9:00 a.m. Family Mass;  Mass usually goes an hour to an hour and 5 min., and that leaves time for a leisurely walk to the Ministry Center.  However, 12 Noon, 7:00 p.m., and Saturday, 5:00 p.m. are other possibilities for Family Worship on Sundays when we have Home Catechesis meetings.
